There are two kinds of people. The ones who will do anything to tear you apart, and the ones who work so hard to put the pieces back together.

To her horror, she discovered that she was lying on top of the dead caretaker.

Prison Inmate

A pretty woman was serving a life sentence in prison for murder. Angry and resentful about her situation, she decided that she couldn’t spend her life in prison. She began plotting ways to escape from the jail.

She became good friends with one of the prison caretakers. His job was to bury any prisoners who died, in a graveyard just outside the prison walls. Whenever a prisoner died, the caretaker rang a bell, which was heard by all of the prison inmates. The caretaker then got the body and put it in a casket. Next, he entered his office to fill out the death certificate before returning to the casket to nail the lid shut. Finally, he put the casket on a wagon to take it to the graveyard and bury it.

Knowing this routine, the woman devised an escape plan and shared it with the caretaker. The next time the bell rang, the woman would leave her cell and sneak into the dark room where the coffins were kept.

She would slip into the coffin with the dead body while the caretaker was filling out the death certificate. When the caretaker returned, he would nail the lid shut and take the coffin outside the prison with the woman in the coffin along with the dead body. He would then bury the coffin.

The woman knew there would be enough air for her to breathe until later in the evening when the caretaker would return to the graveyard under cover of darkness, dig up the coffin, and set her free.

The caretaker was reluctant to go along with this plan, but since he and the woman had become good friends over the years, he agreed to do it. The woman waited several weeks for one of the other prison inmates to die.

One night, she was asleep in her cell when she heard the death bell ringing. She got up, picked the lock of her cell, and slowly walked down the hallway. She was nearly caught a couple of times. Her heart was beating fast.

She opened the door to the darkened room where the coffins were kept. Quietly in the dark, she found the coffin that contained the dead body, carefully climbed into it and pulled the lid shut to wait for the caretaker to come and nail the lid down.

Soon she heard footsteps and the pounding of the hammer and nails. Even though she was very uncomfortable in the coffin with the dead body beneath her, she knew that with each nail she was one step closer to freedom.

The coffin was lifted onto the wagon and taken outside to the graveyard. She could feel the coffin being lowered into the ground. She didn’t make a sound as the coffin hit the bottom of the grave with a thud.

Finally she heard the dirt dropping onto the top of the wooden coffin, and she knew that it was only a matter of time until she would be free at last. After several minutes of absolute silence, she began to chuckle quietly to herself.

Feeling curious, she decided to light a match to find out the identity of the dead prisoner beside her. To her horror, she discovered that she was lying on top of the dead caretaker.

The Talking Doll is a scary tale about an old woman who loves dolls and a young woman who hates them.Talking DollThere was an old couple who had hired a new maid to help around their house. The wife had a huge doll collection, and the maid was expected to dust them once a week. So once a week the maid walked into the room where the dolls were stored and looked at them in disgust. She hated dolls. While she was dusting, she came across a particularly strange doll. It was a talking doll and it had a cord in the back. The maid was intrested and pulled the cord. The doll said, “Hello.” The maid pulled the cord again. “I love my momma”, said the doll. The maid put the doll back and continued cleaning.A few weeks later, while dusting off the dolls, the maid accidently knocked a doll over. It shattered as soon as it hit the ground. The old woman heard the sound and went to investigate. When she walked into the room and saw her shattered doll, a very sad look came across her face. The maid saw this quickly and said, “I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to break her. I won’t do it again.” The old woman looked down at her sad, broken doll and told the maid that she could only keep her job if she promised to be extra careful around the dolls. The maid agreed. The next day, the old couple left the maid alone while they went out to run some errands. The maid was in such a bad mood that she neglected to do her job. While she was sitting in the kitchen enjoying some of the couple’s fancy chocolate, the maid thought of a vicious idea. She slowly made her way into the room where the dolls were kept. She thought for a moment about how sad the old woman was about her broken doll. The maid picked up a doll and said, “She must really love these dolls,” and threw the doll on the floor. It shattered and the maid smiled. She loved the feeling of breaking dolls. Something about the shattering sound pleased her. She threw more and more dolls to the floor. She was still in her doll-killing rage when the old couple came through the door. The old woman ran to her broken dolls. She looked up at the maid with a baleful expression and asked, “What are you doing?” The husband, seeing his wife so upset, immediately told the maid she was fired. The maid collected her things and left in an even worse mood before. She was so angry that later that night she snuck back into the old couple’s home. Knowing they would be sound asleep, she crept into the kitchen, found the biggest knife she could, and made her way to the bedroom. The next morning, the maid returned to the house and acted like an innocent bystander and told the police that she worked for the couple. She played the sorry victim that had lost good friends. She told police that the old couple were loving, nice, caring people and she had no idea why anyone would want to kill them.At that point, she slowly walked into the house, saying she wished to make sure no one had hurt the old woman’s precious doll colection. When she got to the talking doll she picked it up and pulled the cord. “Hello”, it said. She pulled the cord again, and it said “Why did you kill my momma?”The maid looked horified. “What did you just say?”“Why did you kill momma?” asked the doll. The maid stared in shock. She kept pulling the cord. “Why did you kill my momma? She was a nice momma. I loved her very much. Why did you kill my momma?” The maid stared at the doll. She could not believe this was happening. “YOU KILLED MY MOMMA!” the doll screamed. The maid threw it to the ground and ran from the house. The next morning the maid was found dead in her bed. In her arms was the talking doll. When investigators pulled the cord on the dolls back it just kept repeating, “She killed my momma. She killed my momma. She killed my momma…”

Party GirlI heard this little story in one of those long nights of telling scary stories. Living in the city, I’ve been to a lot of bars and clubs in my first couple of years in college. One such club had a famous resident that the owners always welcome.Coming from their final exams, a group of college students wanted to relax and go girl hunting in the clubs of the city. They’ve been so stressed out from the exams that this was exactly what they needed. The night passed them by, with drinks, hook-ups and girls as much as they can handle. Next thing they knew, they were in a small bar, One of the students was a little drunk so he stayed at the table, sipping on his drink. It was at this point that he noticed a young girl, wearing a red scarf, staring at him from the next table. She looked so gorgeous that he sobbered up with just one glance from her. She introduced herself as Anne Dizon, (fake name) and they hit it off at once. The student’s friends looked on and saw that their friend hooked up with this hot girl. It was almost 2 in the morning when they all left the bar, with the girl of course. She said that she wanted to go home. The students clearly smitten by the girl offered her a ride. She smiled and said it wasn’t very far but she gladly accepted the offer. They drove out a few miles and they already passed the city limits. The students were getting confused because the girl just told them to drive on and it was just a little bit further. Approaching what appeared to be a dense forest, the girl kindly asked them to stop and got off. She smiled and thanked them, for the ride and she ran off in the forest. The students were dumbstruck as to why she would live in such a dangerous place. That’s when they realized that she left her red scarf in the car. The student took the scarf and offered to go to her house, thinking it shouldn’t be too far. Not wanting to be left behind, they locked up the car and started going to where the girl headed. After a few paces, they noticed that the forest opened up to what appears to be a field. As they made their way through the field, they realized that it was a graveyard. A chill passed through their spines and they all joked about what if the girl was actually a ghost or something. They figured that their house must be across the graveyard and she was too embarrassed to tell them. However, one of them was checking out a huge cross tombstone. They all huddled together in front of the beautiful grave marker and was shocked to see the name written there.“Anne Dizon born 1989 died 2005”

Our PortionMy ninang comes from a the country side here in the Philippines. Most of my Philippine Folklore posts come from her and her stories. This one in particular is as bit of amusing as it is creepy. She tells of a story from her father, which at this point, I cannot confirm nor deny if its true. But hey, a creepy story is a creepy story whether true or not, eh? Here goes. Her father’s family lived in a little hut just outside the sugarcane fields. At the time, her father was at a very young age. He would work hard all day in the fields with his dad and would always be back with his mom and siblings at around six in the evening. Back then, no one was really allowed outside the house after dark because of rumours of an aswang in the vicinity. The head of the family, his dad was said to be on good terms with this aswang but he dismissed it as an act of bragging. One night, he awoke to the sound of very loud scratching noises on their roof. Looking around, he found that his whole family was awake except for his father. Feeling nervous, they woke him up, and told him that the aswang was just outside their house. The father laughed and stood up shouting, “We’re pretty full right now, just leave us a portion and we’ll take it in the morning!” The family sat there looking at their father, bewildered at what he said. The scratching noise, stopped however and everything stood still. The father, pleased with himself, went back to bed and asked his family to do the same. Waking up the next morning, the father woke up his son, to start working on the fields again. Opening the door however, what they saw frightened the son so much that he believed in the existence of aswangs until the day of his death. Outside their house… was a severed leg.

What you’ve learned from here tonight is a crash course of what a simple exorcism is and how to perform it. I personally cannot guarantee yours or the victim’s safety in the event that you will need to use this information. However, prevention is always better than the cure so it would be best to avoid getting possessed by strengthening your faith as well as your will. Demons walk among us and it is up to you, whether or not they’ll take over you. There are many other more detailed and well explained accounts on how a simple exorcism works and it would be better to consult someone with a better knowledge in the field. Never assume that you are ready unless you have consulted other more knowledgeable people in this ceremony and of course, your local church. In the event that a simple exorcism is required, then consider it as your last and ultimately final resort.

HalloweenHalloween is my favorite holiday wherein we celebrate all things creepy, spooky and above all, scary. The word “Halloween” came from the Scottish variant “All-Hallows-Even” or “All Hallow’s Eve” which is the night before All Hallows Day. “All Hallows” actually means, all saints, much like the “All Saints Day” that we celebrate on November 1. During Halloween, there are a lot of traditions such as trick or treating and even divination to which young girls can hold a candle in front of a mirror and they can get a glimpse of their husband to be in the future. All this blew up more with urban legends and myths springing up from this tradition such as Bloody Mary, the Blue Baby and even the Candy Man. All things aside, Halloween has always been about scaring yourself silly with the darkest tales and the spookiest tricks.

The Butcher ShopBeing a fan of urban legends, I’ve been researching a bit about them every chance I can. I have a few but this has to be one of those legends that stuck with me ever since I read it. It tells of a little butcher shop in the city. There was this young woman walking down the street, when she saw an old blind man walking towards here. He was wearing a dark pair of glasses and he seemed to have a bit of trouble walking. As the old man got nearer, he stumbled and the young woman caught him. She helped him up and the man thanked her. He then asked if he could ask her a favor. He told her to deliver a letter for him. Being old and disabled, it would be very hard for him. Being the nice woman that she was, she agreed and they parted ways. She looked at the envelope and saw the address written on it. Looking back, he saw the old man suddenly straighten up and walk casually, throwing away his cane and glasses in the nearby trash can.Suspicious of the letter, the woman headed to the nearby police station. The police went to the address written on the envelope and it turns out to be a little butcher shop in the middle of the city. Everything looked normal, and the owners were an old couple, trying to make the most out of their business. Almost done with their investigation, the police asked the old couple to open up the large refrigerator in the back, to which the old couple refused. Suspicious, the police broke the lock and was horrified to see dozens of human corpses, hanging inside the fridge. The woman was shocked to have heard what the police had found. She was so nervous that she almost forgot to even open the envelope. She took the envelope and opened it, only to find one single message written on a piece of paper.“This is the last one I’m sending you today.”
